A few weeks back I came across the big hoot project. If you don’t know what “the big hoot” is it’s a huge art project taking place in Birmingham UK, where lots of creative owls are drawn on, painted and gotten inky to make the city more creative to.
Not only that the finished owls after exhibition are auctioned off to raise money for Birmingham children’s hospital. I thought it was such a great idea not only supporting the children’s hospital but sharing art with the community ( both big and small) through a very inky three-dimensional project. So I came up with this little fella my inky brown own.
The idea behind my little brown inky owl was that I realised this little owl has come an awfully long way from his woodland home. Without a doubt he’s got many things to tell the children and adults of Birmingham about his woodland friends and the woods in which they all live.
So he asked me kindly to make an inky picture of his wonderful woods and he didn’t particularly mind me doodling on his belly. In that wood purely in brown ink are going to be hedgehogs, bees and dragonflies by the trees. Cheeky squirrels picking nuts and rabbits using mushrooms as huts . Birds upon branches , moths, butterflies and many more little inky additions maybe added to the design.
So fingers crossed big hoot think my little inky designs “the hoot”. Lets hope both he and I can get inky in the big hoot project this year!
